Training & Certification Setup
Step-by-step guide to setting up training tracks and certifications in StudioShopOS. Ensure members are properly trained before accessing equipment.
Define Training Tracks
Create training tracks for each equipment type or skill level. A track is a collection of modules that members must complete.
- Navigate to Training & Certifications
- Click 'Create Training Track'
- Name your track (e.g., 'Laser Cutter Basics')
- Set track description and prerequisites
- Choose certification requirements (all modules, minimum score, etc.)
Add Training Modules
Break down training into modules. Each module can include videos, documents, quizzes, and hands-on requirements.
- Within your track, click 'Add Module'
- Set module name and description
- Add content: videos, PDFs, or links
- Create quizzes to test understanding
- Set module completion requirements
- Order modules sequentially or allow flexible completion
Configure Certification Levels
Define what constitutes certification. Members must meet these requirements before accessing equipment.
- Set minimum quiz scores (e.g., 80% required)
- Require hands-on demonstration if needed
- Set expiration dates for certifications
- Configure renewal requirements
- Define certification tiers (Basic, Advanced, Expert)
Link Certifications to Equipment
Connect training tracks to specific equipment. Members must complete training before booking or using equipment.
- Go to Equipment settings
- Select the equipment that requires training
- Choose the required training track
- Set certification level required (if using tiers)
- Configure access rules (booking only, usage only, or both)
Set Up Hands-On Requirements
For equipment that requires demonstration, configure supervised training sessions.
- Enable 'Hands-On Required' for the track
- Assign staff members as trainers
- Set up training session scheduling
- Configure trainer approval workflow
- Define what constitutes successful completion
Configure Automatic Gating
Enable automatic access control. Members automatically gain or lose access based on certification status.
- Enable 'Automatic Gating' in track settings
- Set access permissions based on certification
- Configure automatic notifications for certification status changes
- Set up renewal reminders
- Test the gating system with a test member

Tips for creating effective training programs
Start Simple
Begin with basic training tracks. You can always add complexity later.
Use Real Examples
Include actual photos, videos, and scenarios from your studio in training materials.
Test with Members
Have a few members complete training before making it mandatory. Gather feedback and refine.
Keep Content Updated
Update training materials when equipment, procedures, or safety requirements change.
